Zero sum

• One reason why our students are low achievers is because Ireland has one of the shortest school years in the world. The tradition of giving 12 weeks of summer holidays was devised in an era when children were needed to work on the farm. As the vast majority of children no longer work on land, it is time to revise our outdated and very short school terms.
