Winds of change and the nuclear alternative
One subject that got no attention during the recent election campaign was the future of our energy supply -- perhaps the most serious question facing us. There is a mistaken notion, promoted by the Greens and supported by entrepreneurs, that renewable energy, predominantly wind, is the answer to our needs.
No matter how much infrastructure we install there will always be periods like this when the wind simply doesn't blow.
This situation is clearly unsustainable and we must look for alternative and reliable energy supplies. There is one obvious solution, which no political party is willing to endorse: nuclear power.
Let us wake up to the inevitable before it is too late.
