Sir -- For years now I have been expecting Irish people to march in protest of . . . the list is long! But I am told that it's not an Irish tradition. For years I have been expecting Irish people to go on strike over . . . the list is very long! And I am told that it's not an Irish tradition. Now, what defines an Irish tradition? Martyrdom? Long, pointless laments?
How much does it take for the people of this country to revolt and do something? Anything at all is better that this plain lethargy! I call it the 'marshmallow' attitude . . . or is it simple masochism? Please, please, please, hurt me, please more . . . and I'll cry.
