What next -- nuns and priests thrown in jail?

In the wake of the latest report on clerical sexual abuse in the Cloyne Diocese, Justice Minister Alan Shatter, who is not a Catholic, is bringing forward legislation to jail priests who hear of abuse and don't report it for five years.

Sexual abuse is a serious matter but I understand the proposed legislation will apply even to the confessional.

A priest who breaks the sacred seal of confession is subject to automatic excommunication by the church.

The State is now trying to interfere with this and that is a direct attack on Catholics and the church.

I think it proves just how anti-Catholic our Government has become. We'll soon have priests and nuns being thrown in jail and churches closed down.
