We need a strong party of the right

David Quinn is right to opine in his column (Irish Independent, October 29) that Ireland has adopted the worst aspects of both the American and European economic models.

He appropriately noted that we should instead have adopted the Australian economic model of blending fiscal restraint with the regulation of reckless capitalism.

For similar reasons, Canada is also a country whose economic model we should try to emulate.
