We are now jailers of innocent man

Madam -- At last, a journalist who has the courage to break ranks and write a piece which takes a balanced view in the case of a man who has been destroyed by malicious rumour and what now are being seen as false accusations (Gene Kerrigan, Sunday Independent, December 29, 2013).

Here in West Cork, and particularly in the village of Schull, Ian Bailey has had to struggle against terrible ostracisation and much abuse even though there is not a shred of evidence linking him to the awful murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier.

It is not Gene Kerrigan or indeed myself today who is saying this -- it was said many years ago by the top lawman in the State, the DPP.
