Vote hoodwinks the nation

Madam -- The children's referendum, or smokescreen, is designed to take our minds off the anger and resentment felt against every other aspect of the way we're being governed.

There are adequate measures in place in law to do the job of protecting the young already. The problem is these laws are not being implemented.

We only have to look at the appalling number of young people who have died in the past 10 years while they were in the 'care' of the State. To think that over 200 teens -- and younger -- have lost their lives in this system is mind-boggling.
