Vehicle of Government faces scrap heap after next election
I have to say that I found Simon Harris's recent car analogies relating to the Irish economy at the Fine Gael Ard Fheis amusing (it was almost as good as his "Axis of Evil" Cold War nonsense regarding Russia … clearly Simon watches old James Bond movies!)
The Irish economy could indeed be described in car terms: a car with no brakes and a rotten chassis, that is. The general public are the airbags, and having thought long and hard about it, I have two possibilities for Fine Gael.
They are either the rear-view mirror ("It's not our fault, it was the previous government's") or the boot (great for hiding in).
