Unfair city

• My wife and I occasionally liked to travel into the city to meet friends in a well-known city-centre hotel for a coffee and a chat. Unfortunately, these little pleasures recently had to be scrapped due to the intimidating atmosphere and threatening behaviour of certain sections of the public, ie drunks and drug addicts, around the area of our main thoroughfare, as well as Abbey Street and Marlborough Street.

This was not at night but at lunchtime. If the authorities do not put measures in place to eliminate this scandalous behaviour, we can say goodbye to our streets and cheerio to our tourist trade.

No other country would put up with this on its main thoroughfare and surrounding areas. Minister Shatter needs to implement measures to eliminate these problems ASAP.
