Trust has been broken over telephone misuse

It seems that politicians are anxious to put the matter of Oireachtas telephones being misused into the category of a minor offence.

It is not sufficient that someone will be permitted to repay the cost of the phone calls. Solutions must include full restitution for all costs incurred because of that event, including repayment of wages, salaries, and any overtime costs by those who used the phones, plus the full costs of investigating the occurances.

Finally, this is not an internal misdemeanour, it is a breakdown of trust in our Dail, and the Garda Siochana should be tasked with the investigations for the purpose of bringing those involved before the courts.
