This ‘tough medicine’ is killing the patient

• According to Lucinda Creighton the Minister for European Affairs, the 'tough medicine' dished out by the Government has worked and we are apparently an inspiration for other countries in a similar sorry state.

But when these other countries see the real cost to the Irish people of all this gung-ho garbage they may not be so impressed. For a start, the adverse 'side-effects' of this particular untested, untried and basically experimental 'medicine' are already proving to be pretty horrendous.

Probably the most serious side-effect is the persistent haemorrhaging of our nation's very life-blood as droves of our youngest and brightest leave for far-off countries that offer at least the hope of a new and better life.
