The graduate

• In this time of high unemployment, a seemingly unfixable economy and constant calls to protect the poor, let's not forget about the misery of the middle class graduate -- something that I unfortunately know all too much about.

I am a graduate with an honours degree in history and politics, a course I chose in small part because I felt sure that in either of these areas there would be a job for me at the end. After all, when I started it, we still had a pretty good economy.

But then the worst recession in history hit our country like a tidal wave. While it may have provided ample issues to debate for my politics class and topics to look at in my history sessions, it has nearly killed me professionally.
