• Justin Kelly (Letters, August 6) extrapolates the virtues of Brian Cowen: indeed, the cream of the midlands, rich and thick.
But, argues Mr Kelly, Mr Cowen, educated to the highest standards, should be above personal reproach for his abysmal record as Minister for Finance, for which he has been very well rewarded out of public money.
But Mr Cowen was well able to give it out: he referred to the opposition in the Dail as "f......ers", and got caught doing so.
Sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.
