Tapping into new thinking on water

• It's almost as if from the time it was announced that water meters were to be installed in all homes throughout the country that some heavenly body decided 'if you want water, I'll give you plenty', and it has rained at unprecedented levels so far this year.

It might be funny but for the fact that suffering has ensued as a result, homes have been destroyed and crops are in jeopardy.

Now I cannot but ponder the wisdom of scientists in spending €7.5bn on the Large Hadron Collider in order to prove the existence of the Higgs boson particle, when by Higgs's own admission he has no idea how it could be of any benefit to the world.
