Suicide issue

• "The prediction of suicide is a very inexact science," according to Patricia Casey in her excellent and very well researched article (Irish Independent, December 19). How could a group of good, sensible and well-educated people with a real sense of responsibility pass any kind of law that would countenance the death of even one baby on such flimsy and unreliable evidence?

This article should be read and studied by all of our lawmakers and by all who have the common good at heart. In fact, it should be reprinted in large, bold type on the front page of your paper. Thank you for this major contribution to this most important discussion.
