Stop whingeing about holiday
Sir -- What a whinger your correspondent Pierre Benitot is ('Dismal view of Ireland' -- Sunday Independent, September 4, 2011). I'm glad I didn't meet up with him over the summer!
Doesn't he know we are famous for our greenery and the only way this is achieved is through all the rain we have? And we are famous for our drinking. Did he not read up on the place before he came over? He obviously didn't visit the fabulous beaches in Achill and Enniscrone where you can walk for miles with hardly another person in sight. And the shops stay open late at night, unlike in France when we visited some years ago and my daughter needed nappies for the baby. All the local shops closed at 4pm. So, Monsieur Benitot, next time make sure you know what you are getting into before you visit.
