'Some' words very important

Sir -- As a teacher of just over 30 years, I am very familiar with the slant put on some comments made about teachers in general.

But on this occasion, I am choosing to respond to the general accusation made by Brendan O'Connor that teachers have contributed to the "Anglophobia that survives in this country" (Sunday Independent, May 29, 2011).

I can confirm that I have never made any such contribution either at a professional or personal level regarding any kind of phobia.

Like all effective teachers, I am offering advice as to how he might improve in the future -- all he has to do is include the word "some" to ensure he is not contributing to any form of discrimination.
