Silence amidst the cackles and wails

What a noisy country Ireland has become.

To the incessant cackling of chickens coming home to roost, we must add the angry rumbling of gravy trains moving out, the splashing of rats jumping ship and the collective wailing and gnashing of teeth from those fortunate enough to have a wage packet to open.
