Shot in foot

• It would be remiss of anyone who has the ability to read not to refer to Kevin Myers's article (Irish Independent, October 9) so as to point out to Mr Myers that he has shot himself in the foot.

The article begins with a topical story of the day and proceeds to provide a vehicle for the writer's usual diatribe of anti-revolutionary swill that has become so predictable.

Mr Myers employs his usual habit of quoting certain little gems of historical observation to good effect, to frame an argument which criticises that which needs to be criticised until he reaches some obscure mention of a revolutionary and then off he goes.
