Seanad hopefuls don't represent real society
The Government promised change, fairness and equality. But is that reflected in the nominees to the Seanad? Those nominated are all well connected, well-off and include two rejected at the ballot box by 'we the citizens'.
This group is hardly representative of a cross-section of society and will maintain the elitist/party political hue of the Seanad.
An opportunity was lost to give real voice to the marginalised.
