Madam -- As a former Pallottine Father in the London of the Sixties, and a chaplain to the Catholic Stage Guild, I had to read Philip Ryan's article twice (Sunday Independent, June 3, 2012) to make certain that I had read it correctly the first time.

Tom Savage's declaration that he didn't know until recently that his company, the Communications Clinic, had been advising the Irish Missionary Union (IMU), or that it was only then that he became aware of any issues surrounding the Mission to Prey broadcast, is incredible.

The IMU approached the Communications Clinic run by Tom Savage and Terry Prone because, as Fr Aylward of the IMU has said: "The fact that Tom was a priest would have made a difference to us, as he would have known where we were coming from."
