Santa won't be coming to town

Sir -- On top of the massive job losses announced last Wednesday by Aviva, this year's annual misery day (the Budget) will fall festively on December 6, giving families ample opportunity to discard the idea of purchasing presents.

Once again, Santa Claus and his reindeers (if you are under 10, please stop reading now) will not be coming to town, and all effort will be made by the Government to ensure humbug in most homesteads over the yuletide period.

However, it isn't all doom and gloom -- the newly elected President will not be affected by any financial restraint and will enjoy a sumptuous lunch on Christmas Day thanks to the generosity of the taxpayer.
