Ruthless Fergie is no role model
David Quinn was skating on thin ice in selecting Alex Ferguson as an example of old-fashioned values in his article on family role models (Irish Independent, March 5).
Ferguson has petulantly refused to give interviews to the BBC since it made a programme looking at the activities of his son as a player's agent some years ago.
Ferguson also has shown himself to be ruthless in dispensing with the services of players who have given years of loyal service to Manchester United. He has been spectacularly successful but is more of an example of how winning matters more than anything else rather than of old-fashioned values.
