Rugby fans did not see shooting

I was disgusted to read the headline 'Shocked stadium crowds witness shooting' over your report (Irish Independent, January 25).

While I am not disputing that an incident took place, the utterly sensationalist headline gave the impression that thousands of rugby fans witnessed a shooting, which is blatantly untrue.

According to Sgt Eoin Gogarty, from Mayorstone garda station, not one rugby fan, that the gardai were aware of, witnessed the incident which happened more than 600m away from the stadium and 35 minutes after the match ended.
