Recession flushed out the gamblers
In the news last week, a solicitor complained that his bank was being "unreasonable" in asking him for repayment of the €70m he owes them.
Then we heard of a modest storekeeper who got an "unsolicited" loan of €32m to build a shopping centre. If the good times had remained, we would never have heard of these people as they lined their pockets, but hey, the bubble burst and we the taxpayer picked up the tab!
These people took gambles with the banks' money and lost.
