Queen's visit showed Ireland at its best

Close

Whatever one thought of the queen's visit to Ireland, it was a resounding success from Bord Failte's point of view.

The tall fishmonger who made the queen laugh in Cork's English Market may just bring a million more tourists to Ireland this summer because it showed off two of the best attributes the Irish should be selling: fabulous, fresh food and a great sense of humour.

All you need to prove now is that Liz has ancestors who came from Schull, or some such beautiful west Cork town.

"There's no one more Irish than Queen Elizabeth" -- sing along now.
