Punters lose out in Galway Stakes

THE "Galway Tent Memorial Stakes" rounded off a successful week of racing in Ballybrit.

The newly inaugurated centre-piece of the Galway racecard was established in honour of former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern who, as usual, was carried shoulder high everywhere he went.

The pre-race favourite, Sound Economy, broke punters' hearts as it skidded off at the first incline.
