Public did not get fair chance to greet queen
LIKE most citizens of Dublin, I welcomed the visit of Queen Elizabeth.
However, because of the threat from republican fascism it was almost impossible for the citizens of Dublin to greet the queen as would be the case in any democracy.
That said, the 'Independent Republic of Cork' managed to allow its citizens to greet her.
My other disappointment was that while members of the UDA got to meet the queen, brave journalists such as Kevin Myers, Ruth Dudley Edwards and Eoghan Harris who opposed the provisional IRA/SF murder campaign over many years did not get due recognition.
I believe that Kevin Myers did get a late invitation to be present at the war memorial at Islandbridge, which we should be grateful for, given his many years of labour to help restore it.
