Patients can't afford hospital travel costs
You report (Irish Independent, May 23) that up to 30pc of hospital appointments are not kept. I admit to being one of the patients who has cancelled three such appointments in the past few months.
My finances no longer allow me to attend hospital appointments in Dublin.
A round-trip by car, including tolls and parking, comes to €70. Not a fortune, but to someone struggling to survive on disability allowance it is an extra burden too much.
