Our politicians must invest in Irish shares
I WAS surprised when I heard Finance Minister Michael Noonan on the 'Six One News' on Tuesday so powerfully argue that Irish pension funds should invest in Ireland, rather than abroad. His raid on the savings of Irish workers in the private sector, even if it is small, will further add to the mistrust of what will happen to hard-earned savings of individuals in Ireland.
Did I not read recently that the same minister personally now has no money invested in Irish shares? Rather, he had some in German bonds earning close to nothing. Some vote of confidence on the future of Irish enterprise!
The Taoiseach Enda Kenny also declared in an article that he had no money invested in Irish shares.
