• I was horrified that the Irish Independent (Wednesday September 5) printed details of how much we pet owners spend on our beloved animals yearly.
My only advice is this: hide all evidence, and quickly too, of actual pet ownership like, bowls, bedding, food, cages, licences or pet insurance details, leads or collars or any receipts for animal care in the past year.
No matter what pet you own -- be it dog, dinosaur, cat, colt, fish, flea or bird or bee -- hide them all in a secure safe place, as you can be well assured that once this greedy Government gets wind of you spending so much of your hard earned cash on these trivial items, they will be after you with some sort of tax.
You have been warned.
