Opening borders in 2004 was a huge error
There should be no doubt in Irish people's minds that our political leaders have a lot to answer for.
Take for example the decision they made in 2004 to open our border to workers from other EU states. At the time they were under no pressure from Europe to do so.
Only two other countries in the EU took a similar decision, though it was envisaged that there would be free movement of all EU workers by 2010.
