Not all 'Africans' fans of vuvuzelas

Sir -- In relation to Carol Hunt's vitriolic piece on the World Cup vuvuzelas, (Sunday Independent, June 20) she opines that "African fans" are causing "havoc" with their instrument of choice. Let me educate her.

Africa is not one homogeneous entity. It is made up of several different countries. As such, while the South African fans have certainly taken the vuvuzelas to heart, not all other African nations are as enthusiastic.

Furthermore, no one complains about the relentless 'Clack! Clack! Clack!' of those inflatable clapper sticks which create a huge din at footballing, and other, sporting events. No one complains about the brass bands and drumming.
