Nice roads, shame about the drivers
AS a resident of Northern Ireland for the last 35 years, I have watched with fascination and no little envy, the introduction and development of your first-class motorway network.
Even allowing for teething problems with the Port Tunnel, the M50 and the complete lack of service facilities (now being belatedly implemented), the system is a credit to a degree of foresight and application sadly lacking in the North. I wish I could say the same about your driving standards. Even accepting that many of your more senior citizens may never have passed a test, never mind learned the theory of motorway driving, the general standard of motorway driving I have witnessed in the last few years is alarming.
Lane discipline is virtually non-existent, and lane hogging -- even on four-lane carriageways -- is endemic.
