Nation needs to take off blinkers
Sir -- I refer to Daniel McConnell's excellent article 'Advisers travelling first class on gravy train' (Sunday Independent, October 10, 2010), and would like to congratulate him on bringing important information to us. To say the revelations made in the article are extremely concerning and worrying would be an understatement.
To read in black and white the amount of our money (taxpayers' money) that has been paid out to the 'Usual Suspects' -- as Mr McConnell so eloquently named the group of lawyers and consultants who, between 2008 and 2010, were paid a staggering €33.7m -- is mind-blowing and outrageous.
It's seriously time for the Irish people to take off our collective blinkers and demand answers and 'the truth and nothing but the truth' from the Minister for Finance Brian Lenihan, Nama, Taoiseach Brian Cowen, and those who represent us in Dail Eireann -- enough is enough.
