I wish Kevin Myers would just occasionally approach the writing of his columns in a calmer frame of mind.
is latest column (Irish Independent, February 11) misses the central point of the debate on the role of the Catholic Church in Irish schools.
It's as simple as this, Mr Myers: Catholics are at liberty to raise their children in the Catholic faith and to persuade them of the benefits they believe that might give them.
For everybody else, there is no logic in the idea that their preferences should trump others and that people of other faiths and of none should be forced to accept a Catholic-dominated education.
To suggest that without the influence of the church other people would not be equal to creating a morally responsible ethos is plain silly -- and childishly insulting.
With friends like Kevin Myers the church needs no enemies.
