Mobility grants vital for survival

Madam – I just want to say that stopping the mobility grant is a disgrace. People who depend on it are going to be confined to their homes. The Government is stopping the only outlet that they have, and all for €200 a month.

The Ombudsman said it was illegal, but she did not tell them to stop it. They said it's on hold until they get their own scheme up and running. All they had to do was leave it running until they sorted it out. The Government were told about it a long time ago.

We have TDs walking to work who get paid expenses which are more than the mobility grant which gives people freedom from their house for a few hours every day. This Government should look at the hardship they are causing to people on mobility grants.
