Minister must find a way to save Fair Deal

I'm aghast that the funding allocation for the Fair Deal nursing home scheme has run out. I believe the Government and the HSE will tell us that it is because older people are living longer. Well that happens when you treat older people better.

I would let Germany, the EU, the IMF or anybody else we owe, wait for their money.

We must, as a society, do all we can to delay our older people from going to the grim reaper before it's their time. It's okay to die, that's part of life, but to die from not having proper care or being neglected is not on.

I hope the new Government and the new Health Minister James Reilly find a way to save something that actually works.
