Meter the wind
In response to the letter written by Henry Van Raat regarding household charges: the most telling sentence portraying his point is one that conjures up Native American struggles against the 'white man'.
"They wish to meter my water? They'll have to meter the stream that flows past, or the rain, so."
Whilst in this case the 'white man' has now been replaced by the Government, both forms of unilateral greed, whether historical or modern, involved the selling of land and stealing from citizens. Such powerful wording by Mr Van Raat shows how the imagery of the 'white man' pillaging everything he sees in sight has now mutated into our very own system of rule.
Henry Van Raat, I applaud you.
