Lovely hurling

• Now that the post-mortems on the performances of the Republic of Ireland team in Poland are under way, may I suggest that if Giovanni Trapattoni decides to leave, the FAI seriously consider Brian Cody for the job.

He'll be looking for a new job when he retires after Kilkenny fail to hold on to the Liam MacCarthy Cup in September as that will be back in 'The Home of Hurling' -- Tipperary.

He could even go now and be ready for the World Cup qualifiers if it suited.
