Lone voice against waste

Madam --In October 2009 I was at a meeting where the concept of Nama was explained to me. After the meeting l remember going for a walk and feeling stunned. A year previously they had bailed out the banks, now they were going to make the Irish people pay the money that a few hundred people (some so-called developers) owed through their ignorance, greed and stupidity.

In early 2010 I came up with a plan to try to stop this debt getting bigger. I would try to contact the IMF. After many attempts I eventually got to speak the person who was in charge of Ireland.

I explained to him that I was an Irish citizen and that I was very concerned about our country. I asked would it be possible for him to contact the Irish Government and offer them advice regarding financial matters. He explained that they cannot just call a government. The way it works is that a government has to call them in and then the process begins. In other words there is no middle ground.
