I SEE that Micheal Martin has taken to accusing political opponents of wanting to "unilaterally renegotiate" the IMF/EU bailout.
"Unilateral negotiation" is a crass contradiction in terms. I have not seen or heard the expression used by anyone but Mr Martin himself and it does not figure, unsurprisingly enough, among the policies of any party.
But we may be on to something here.
Perhaps Mr Martin -- and the others who were sent out to talk to the IMF and the EU on our behalf and came back with such a lousy, one-sided, crippling deal -- have some basic difficulty in appreciating the nature of negotiations.
