List goes on

• We now have had the DIRT, Moriarty and most immediately Mahon Tribunal, to name but a few.

I believe they are very worthwhile, even if people -- lawyers -- made a lot of money from them. But the nagging questions in my mind remain.

Where were the forces of law when these incidents and malpractices were going on? Do they go around in the dark? They must have known what was going on.

Why isn't the system changed in a fundamental way, which we the citizens can discern?

Why are certain state entitlements still being paid to the few people who have been disgraced after the outcome of some of these inquiries? When will we have an open and transparent democracy?
