Life and death

• Two major crises in Africa are putting hundreds of thousands of lives at risk.

In Niger, six million people, more than half of whom are children, are facing starvation as a result of persistent drought.

Ongoing conflict between Sudan and South Sudan is forcing tens of thousands of people from their homes and has put the two countries closer to war than at any stage since they signed a peace agreement seven years ago.
