Lenihan failing to lead by example
Just a few weeks ago, Brian Lenihan told us that Ireland was fully funded up to the middle of next year and did not need a bailout. On December 15, he told the Dail he was mystified as to why anybody would oppose the bailout. What happened in the meantime, Mr Lenihan? Was Ireland run over by a bus?
On December 13, he demanded that AIB refuse to pay bonuses to its staff. On December 15, bonuses were paid to staff in his own department. What's going on here Mr Lenihan? Another case of do as I say, not as I do?
