Labour's stance on pay deal

It is interesting to note that Labour leader Eamon Gilmore has refused to set out his position on the floundering public-sector pay deal ('Gilmore kicks to touch', Irish Independent, April 14).

Mr Gilmore and his party are not averse to offering opinion on most other matters -- classic running with the hares and hunting with the hounds.

Perhaps the public sector pay issue is not of sufficient importance for Labour to have a formal position? If it has trouble making up its mind then let me offer a few pointers:
