Labour's stance on IRA campaign

KEVIN Myers in last Friday's paper "confidently" alleges, in relation to the 1973/77 Fine Gael-Labour coalition, that Labour would not tolerate the measures needed to put down the IRA.

This is untrue and defamatory to our Labour colleagues, regrettably all now dead. They supported loyally and unequivocally all the security measures proposed and taken by that government. Mr Myers should be careful not to abuse the retrospective omniscience that goes with the job.
