• I have read with disgust the article relating to Twist Soup Kitchen and Galway City Council (Irish Independent, January 22).
The correspondence from Galway City Council can only be described as sick, and I think it's fair to say that if that planning authority was as fussy during the Celtic Tiger, perhaps some of the decisions it took might have been very different.
Stating the soup kitchen was in fact operating as a restaurant would suggest the planning authority has very little knowledge of the restaurant trade.
It also suggests it has no regard for the fate of the 500 who are fed at the facility each week.
