KEVIN Myers has a point when he writes about the growing population in the Horn of Africa.
According to both the 2005-2010 list by the United Nations and the 2009 list in the CIA World Factbook, Somalia has the 16th-fastest-growing population in the world.
In fact, the world's hungriest populations are also among the world's fastest-growing.
This is obviously unsustainable.
That is not to say that the people of these countries should not be helped, but they need to be helped in a different way and they must begin by helping themselves if they are to escape the cycle of famine and disaster.
