Keane coverage disrepects SPL
Daniel McDonnell's report on Robbie Keane's debut for Celtic against Kilmarnock (Irish Independent, February 3) echoed so much of the Irish coverage of this unique event: condescending, disrespectful and verging on the sneering.
Your correspondent was far from alone in that regard. One other report I read compared the Scottish League to the Wacky Races.
Accepting that the SPL will never boast the resources or glamour of its English counterpart, I ask this: have the good people of Ireland become connoisseurs of top-quality football through watching games themselves? Beyond the Premiership on telly, that is.
